A colony of myriad identical elements form various species of this reef structure. Playful lights bring its surfaces to life giving an ever changing appearance. The artificial coral garden represents a material ecosystem and tells the story of its formation. Looking closely you discover viscose fibres living their second life. For this installation recycled textiles were transformed into a structural and durable biocomposite material for interiors called BioFold. Using a circular process and digital production techniques, BioFold transforms all kinds of textile waste streams, for example denim and jute, into functional and sensory interior elements.
