IMPACT
BioFold is geïnspireerd op de overvloed aan afvalstromen van natuurlijke vezels afkomstig van planten en/of textiel.
BioFold is gemaakt van 100% hernieuwbare en biologisch afbreekbare materialen, lokaal ingekocht in Nederland en omliggende gebieden. Als experts in materiaaleigenschappen van textiel, doen we onderzoek naar innovatieve en locatiespecifieke ontwerpoplossingen. We werken nauw samen met fabrikanten en leveranciers om de traceerbaarheid van onze materialen te maximaliseren. We zetten ons in om een volledig circulaire productieketen te creëren, het minimaliseren van onze impact voorop staat bij alle ontwikkelingen.
Het Biofold-product is biobased, afvalgebaseerd en recyclebaar. De meeste onderdelen van de BioFold-panelen zijn verwijderbaar en herbruikbaar en onderdelen die niet geschikt zijn voor hergebruik, zijn biologisch afbreekbaar en recyclebaar.
HERLEEFD
BioFold maakt gebruik van natuurlijke vezels of textielafvalstromen die anders moeilijk te recyclen zijn en combineert deze met een biobased plastic om nieuw biocomposietmateriaal te creëren.
HERVORMD
Met behulp van een circulair proces en digitale productietechnieken transformeren wij het biocomposiet tot producten met hoogwaardige, functionele, sensorische en flexibele architectonische toepassingen.
LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA)
In the Netherlands, the building sector is a mostly linear system, with only 13% of input materials being derived from secondary or renewable resources. In turn, we believe that it is important to strive for a more sustainable industry and evaluate our own products on how they affect our environment.
To better understand the environmental impact of BioFold we conducted a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). During the LCA we calculated the eco-costs and carbon footprint of the product at every stage of its life. The graphs bellow compare BioFold to other sustainability-focused acoustic materials, showcasing its low carbon footprint and minimal environmental burden. Thanks to the innovative implementation of hemp and an environmentally-conscious production cycle, BioFold distinguishes itself as a sustainable building material.
BioFold utilises natural fibres or textile waste streams that are otherwise difficult to recycle and combines them with a biobased plastic to create new biocomposite material.
